Final Fantasy XIV Servers Buckling Under the Pressure?

by on September 2, 2010

So, Square Enix started their open beta for Final Fantasy XIV earlier today and the majority of you are probably dispatching monsters, collecting items and doing a fair bit of general levelling. But alas, for every gamer enjoying the pleasures of Hydaelyn there is another having troubles logging into the Final Fantasy XIV open beta test or acquiring registration codes for the game at all and apparently there is a good reason  for that.

Square Enix have stated that :-

“Due to heavy server traffic, we are continuing to experience Square Enix Account Management System congestion. As a countermeasure to the congestion, we are currently limiting the acquisition of registration codes for the Open Beta Test.

Currently, players may not be able to log into the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, or acquire registration codes for the game.”

“If you cannot acquire a registration code, or if you are unable to access the Square Enix Account Management System, we ask that you please wait and try again later. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Final Fantasy XIV is due for a 30th September launch on the PC and sometime in March for PS3. Those with the PC special edition version of the game will be able to access the land of Hydaelyn on the 22nd of September.
