Japan Turns White For PS3

by on July 6, 2010

Sony of Japan has announced that on July 29th, new higher-capacity PlayStation 3 units will be released in the country – the new hard disk sizes being 160GB and 320GB – and that the 160GB version would also be released as a new exclusive white slim console. Matching accessories such as the Dual Shock control pad and the console stand will also be produced in white, to compliment your new purchase. The 160GB PS3 will retail for 29,980 yen (approximately £225), while the 320GB version will go for 34,980 yen (£262).

Sony hasn’t released a guideline retail price for the existing 120GB models, and retailers can sell them at a price of their choosing – so it is left to us to assume that the model is already being discontinued. These are Japan-only details at the current time, and Sony Europe hasn’t announced anything yet.
