Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition Unveiled.

Yesterday Infinity Ward posted a video on their Youtube channel regarding Modern Warfare 2. As you can probably tell by the title of the article it was the official unboxing of the three versions of thier much anticipated sequel to one of the best selling games of this generation. First to be unveiled was the standard stock edition, not much worth talking about here and probably the version most people will end up purchasing. This was followed by a showing of the steelbook version of the game called the hardened edition (like we need more of those eh?!), which will probably be around £5 more and contain that “much desired” conceptual art booklet.

Anyway just when I was starting to fall asleep along comes the prestige edition and what looks like an unnecessarily large box (you know the usual). Now I know what your all thinking, “Do we really need another one of these £60 mega boxes filled with random blu-ray disc and tacky action figurine”. Well that’s what I thought too, but then something strange happens. The “presenter” reaches into the box and pulls out fully functional night vision goggles and our inner geeks scream out…..HELL YEAH! Now I don’t know about you but I suddenly had the image of fully grown men running around the streets at night kitted out with NVG’s while throwing replica Batarang’s at each other (which we of course acquired from the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum special edition). As if the goggles weren’t enough, the presitige edition also includes something that will get all you Xbox Live and PSN fiends excited. The package will also include a token allowing you to download the original Call of Duty for free. As it stands there are no official prices for any of the special editions but you can bet your ass they will all be recession “friendly” cheap (can you sense the sarcasm?!).
