E3 2009: Metroid: Other M Trailer
The dust has finally settled on the big three conferences and Nintendo’s disappointing showing is becoming a distant memory (hopefully). There were a few notable appearances in Nintendo’s conference and one of them was this game right here, Metroid Prime: Other M. The first thing I would like to mention is the fact that Nintendo have seen fit to bring Team Ninja aboard to develop this title. Now whether this is an attempt to bring new life into the franchise or they were just too busy developing nonsensical hardware such as the Wii Vitality Sensor, who knows?! (I think the latter though!). What I do know is that bringing in a development team like Team Ninja is never a bad gamble, even without the guidance and drive of the outspoken yet talented Tomonobu Itagaki.
The first thing I noticed is the voice acting, in one of Nintendo’s major franchises?! (WHAT?! ZOMGWTF@#$). Is this some sort of weird joke?! Well it doesn’t seem like it, if the rest of the game follows suit we could actually have our first well known Nintendo game that has full coherent speech (obviously “Lets-a-go” doesn’t count). Next up is the heavy amount of action featured in this trailer. Team Ninja seem to have taken a quite action orientated approach to the franchise as you see Samus jump, skip/flip past enemies while the camera zooms and pans quite rapidly around her. The camera angle changes so much in this footage that its actual hard to tell whether this will remain a FPS or go 3rd person.
Anyway regardless of the shape and form, the Metroid franchise has always brought us quality gaming and I have every confidence that Team Ninja will maintain this tradition. So here is the footage that was displayed at Nintendo’s conference. Have fun.
As of yet there is no official release date for the title
