New Battlefront Details Emerge: playable solo with bots, 60 FPS, split screen not available in all modes
A lot of new details on Dice’s highly anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront have trickled out over the weekend, mainly thanks to design director, Nicklas Fegraeus, happily tweeting answers to hopefully questions from fans.
Firstly, he confirmed that the game will run at 60 frames per second. Whether that will be across all platforms remains to be seen, but it’s certainly a positive start for those of us who remain slightly cynical that the Battlefront trailer couldn’t truly be representative of the final game.
Despite the early good news, it seems split-screen won’t be as prevalent as some would hope, with it seemingly only being available able in offline co-op Missions. Fegraeus tweeted:
“Split-screen is for local play only, so it is for when you play Missions with a friend”
There was more good news however, as Fegraeus confirmed that there would be more maps than have been discussed in previews thus far, saying:
“There will be more maps than 8, and more than two per planet at launch.”
Finally, he may have put those amongst us who were disappointed with the news that there would be no single player champaign in a slightly better frame of mind, as he confirmed there will be a Missions mode which will “allow you to play solo or cooperatively with bots on or offline”.
It may not end up being the fun Star Wars story some (me!!!) were hoping for, but at least it’s something.
There will no doubt be lots more news about Battlefront before it’s November 17th release, and we’ll have them all covered right here.
