Nintendo has announced a brand new 3DS and 3DS XL and they are both quite different from the previous iterations.
The new 3DS and 3DS XL features a range of improvements. The first being the addition of a second analog stick, which is quite a bit smaller than the one already on the console. The new stick is known as the C-button and is very similar to the c stick on the GameCube controller. It finally gives the option for dual analog games without the need for the hideous circle pad pro accessory (all the buttons added by the Circle Pad Pro are incorporated into the new designs).
Next up is a couple of new shoulder buttons, one on each side. They are located right next to the current shoulder buttons. The A B X and Y buttons have also received a lick of paint as can be seen in the image at the top of the page.
Perhaps the most noticeable feature is the upgraded CPU that gives the device a significant power boost. This will make loading the MiiVerse and eShop much quicker and will allow for more advanced games to be made. However games that utilize the updated CPU will not be playable on the old 3DS models.
Other new features include a new screen with improved viewing angles, a micro-USB card slot and NFC support for those brand new Amiibo figures.
The new consoles wont hit these shores until 2015 but will launch in Japan on October 11th.
