Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zero Site Updated With Synopsis

by on November 19, 2013

Konami have updated the Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes website with an official plot synopsis.

The news follows the announcement of the PlayStation-exclusive “Deja Vu Mission” last week.

As for the synopsis, the site reads: “The year is 1975, the age of détente.  The Vietnam conflict is drawing to a close and the world is thawing in the wake of the Cold War.

“However, as tension among the world’s giant superpowers eased, a tiny military force quietly took root in the Caribbean.  A new type of military – an army without a nation, or any land to call home.”

Snake acts as the leader of this group of mercenaries, who have attained nuclear capability much to the disapproval of the UN. As a nucelar inspection of the group’s “Mother Base” is about to take place, Snake learns that “Paz” – a female spy introduced in MGS: Peace Walker – has been captured and is being interrogated at a US naval base in Cuba.

Chico, a young volunteer in Snake’s groups with feelings for Paz takes off to rescue her but gets captured also. Snake then decides to take matters into his own hands and heads off to rescue the pair.

Not exactly a neat blurb of a synopsis, but this is MGS after all. It wouldn’t be the same if the plot could be summarised in a couple of sentences.

The website also includes all videos and screenshots released in support of both parts of MGS 5. Ground Zeroes will be released as a discounted title in Spring next year, acting as a prologue to the full game – entitled The Phantom Pain.
