Sony Confirm DriveClub Delay

by on October 18, 2013

Sony have confirmed that PlayStation 4 launch title DriveClub has been delayed until early 2014.

Anyone buying a PS4 next month will now receive indie platformer Contrast for free on PS Plus instead of the stripped down version of Evolution Studios’ DriveClub that had been promised.

DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition will still be available when the game is eventually released early next year.

Rumours of the game’s delay began to circulate earlier this week, but Sony refused to comment. The delay of Ubisoft’s Watch_Dogs appears to have thrown a spanner in the works at Sony.

So in just one week Sony has lost two titles key to the launch of their next gen console. Watch_Dogs may not have been an exclusive, but for many it was a key reason for adopting either of the new consoles early and was being bundled with the PS4.

It leaves the PlayStation 4 with Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack as it’s only exclusive physical releases. Further exclusives in the console’s indie line-up include Resogun, PlayRoom and War Thunder.
