The Last of Us Sells 3.4 Million Copies Since Launch
It shouldn’t surprise many that Sony has announced The Last of Us has sold over 3.4 million copies in the three weeks since it was released – which we saw thanks to Eurogamer.
It is the fastest selling PlayStation 3 title this year and also the fastest selling original property on the PS3. An incredible achievement for a game that’s been released this late into the generation.
Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida commented on Naughty Dog and SCE’s success:
“These sales figures are a testament to the blockbuster quality of The Last of Us. The teams at Naughty Dog are true visionaries and their storytelling capabilities are second to none, this title is an undisputed demonstration of that. SCE continues to be committed to delivering unique gameplay experiences that redefine the interactive entertainment industry and The Last of Us is a perfect example.”
With almost universal praise from critics and gamers alike, everyone involved with the project can be thrilled with what’s been produced. Bravo, ladies and gentlemen.
