We have learned today that the Xbox One will NOT be arriving complete with the official Xbox One headset. The reason for this, Microsoft have explained to Ars Technica, is that the console already includes Kinect, which as we know has its own microphone.
“Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory. Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphone designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences”
This of course means that the voices of other gamers you are playing with will be fed through your main speaker system.
The official headset, or “Chat Headset” will be available but no pricing has been announced, although expect third party developers like Turtle Beach to come up with alternative solutions.
