As expected through a mass of hype and teases, Battlefield 4 has been officially unveiled at GDC 2013.
Along with a 60 second teaser trailer (that you can see after the main video), EA and DICE have shown the game via a 17 minute gameplay trailer, which starts with 4 soldiers trapped in a car, sinking underwater. As the tension builds, we go back in time to a short while before the car went under, and see how it all happened.
If you’d told me that EA would use Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” to open a Battlefield trailer, I’d have laughed at you – but they do, so there.
Obviously, BF4 looks absolutely incredible (powered by Frostbite 3), and there does appear to be a bit more attention and care given to the single player campaign this time around, but it’s hard to know for sure, based only on 17 minutes. It’s currently only announced for PC (almost definitely where this footage is taken from), Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but if you pre-order the game you’ll get a premium expansion pack. You can also grab BF4 via Origin, where the Digital Deluxe edition will net you the game and some bonus in-game items. Of course, if you pre-order the Origin version you’ll also gain access to the Battlefield 4 beta.
What do you think, are amazing visuals enough – or are there things you want to see in the new Battlefield game?
EDIT: EA have sent us over some screenshots, which you can see below.
