Pardon the sensationalist headline but, as someone who has been looking forward to the Oculus Rift for quite some time, I’m personally psyched.
I wear glasses. I like the way they look. They’re relatively inexpensive and I enjoy the simplicity of them.
That is, until I have to pop on a pair of 3D glasses. Two layers of lenses is not something I particularly enjoy. I imagine that I’m not alone in my plight.
Luckily for us, Palmer Luckey has posted on his blog that his upcoming Oculus Rift will have two solutions to this problem.
The first, is an adjustable assembly that will increase or decrease the distance between your eyes and the lenses. This will allow users to create a bigger space that should facilitate their glasses.
The second solution is a unique one. Through the use of “variable eye cups,” players with all but the most extreme of ocular issues will be able to play without the need of their glasses.
Essentially, the variable eye cups are interchangeable prescription lenses built right into the headset. Astounding!
