Microsoft GDC 2012 Preview – New Forza Game and More Detailed
Microsoft has held a pre GDC pimping event for its 2012 lineup of Xbox 360, Kinect and Windows Phone games. While much of the information was nothing new, we did get to see an all new Halo 4 viDoc, as well as the first announcement of a new entry into the Forza series of games, this time titled Forza Horizon.
Forza Horizon will be developed by UK based developer Playground Games, and is described as a “fast-paced, pick-up-and-play racing game and the newest entry in the “Forza Motorsport” franchise. Available this Autumn, the game is being created in partnership with acclaimed racing development studio Playground Games” – we haven’t got anything solid on Forza Horizon just yet, but rumours are that it will be an open world game similar to Test Drive: Unlimited. You can check out the teaser trailer, below.
Other morsels to come from the event included details of the upcoming Porsche Expansion Pack for Forza 4 that will contain 30 modern and classic Porsche models. Fancy. Away from the world of racing we got details of a new Gears of Ward 3 map pack; “The curb-stomping fun continues with the release of the “Forces of Nature” map pack for “Gears of War 3” on March 27.“Forces of Nature” will feature five maps, new characters, new weapon skins and a 250 Gamescore. Also, starting March 27, “Gears of War 3” will be available through Games on Demand.”
The Fable series is back in a big way in 2012, with the release of two games, firstly with Fable: The journey – “Fable: The Journey” is a whole new way to experience the deep storyline, heart-pounding action and picturesque world of Albion. “Fable: The Journey” launches this Autumn on Kinect for Xbox 360. Secondly we will see the release of Fable Heroes on Xbox Live Arcade, a unique take on the world of Albion that sees you take part in a hack and slash style adventure. Both games are coming this autumn.
Not a great deal of new information from the Seattle giant at GDC, then. They have teased us with some new info on Halo 4 however, and that will have to keep us going until the crazy whirlwind that is E3 rolls around in a couple of months time.
